Playback problems with DIVX50 on Mac 8.6

I am having a lot of playback probs with any AVIDIVX50 format lately. I have a Mac 8.6. AOL had me do a fix on another prob recently and now I cant seem to do any better with playbacks then getting about 30 per cent of it to playback. At tht point the picture freezes. Audio continues but the picture doesnt. I have no idea what codex will solve this problem. I think I have tried about everyone I can find for my Mac. I am also using Netscape 4.7 with Quicktime. Any ideas?
