    Unknown Format

I was given a cd with a concert of a band and the extension was .avi
I try to open it and both media player and BSplayer say Unknown Format. I have DivX 5.02 and Xvid installed. Is there a program I can use to find out what encoding has been used? I have windows2000.
A friend with Linux could play it.

Get GSpot and that will tell you for both sound and video.
