    Yet another DIV3 error

    Hello there everyone,

    I've been searchin all evening to make this DivX file work, but no succes till now.

    I hope you guys can help me out.

    I have installed and deinstalled lots of software this evening but none of the combinations seemed to work. I've been reading some of the previous threads but nothing seemed to work for me.
    I even tried to use the VirtualDub direct stream copy, but no succes.

    As a good starting point, a gSpot - screenshot is attached.

    Installed players:
    * Windows Media Player 9.0
    * BSPlayer 0.85

    Installed codecs/filters:
    * ffdshow
    * 3ivx

    Tested (but unsuccesful and not installed at the moment):
    * Nimo Codec Pack
    * Nimo Codec Pack (lite)
    * SLD Codec Pack
    * DivX 3.11 Alpha
    * DivX 5.0.3

    Errors received:
    * BSPlayer: Unknown file format (DIV3)
    * WMP:

    You have encountered the following error while using Windows Media Player:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Error# C00D11CD

    Sorry, no more help is available for this problem at this time.

    (thank you MS )

    Can anyone help me out ? I'd realy like to beat this problem.

    Maybe I misconfigured something ?

    One positive note: the Player 2.? (included with the DivX bundle from www.divx.com was able to playback the file, but the file seems to be corrupted at 3mins9secs).

    But of course this is not solving the problem

    Many thanks in advance !

      Ok, here it goes.

      It is the file information from virtualDub.

      New information: last night I used virtualDub again (direct stream copy) with no succes: same error in BSPlay and WMP.

      Thanks for helping me

        Uninstall DivX 4.12 as well as DivX 3.11a (if you have this installed).

        Reinstall the DivX 3.11 (Tsunami-patched) and DivX 5.02 (forget about using the outdated DivX 4.12) via the Tsunami codec pack. Alternatively, you can use FFDShow, which I personally find to decode DivX 3.11 contents and others very well.

          I don't think I have installed DivXx 3.11a nor Divx 4.12, but as VirtualDub says it uses it, it is installed somewhere.

          Maybe because the Nimo Codec Pack didn't uninstall completely :s.

          What I'll do next:
          - uninstall ffdshow and the 3ivx codec
          - install DivX codecs from Tsunami

          I'll let you know the result ASAP.

            Still no luck:

            Tsunami codecs:
            ---------------------

            * installed Tsunami Filter Pack 3.8.9 Lite
            *Lite because the full version is temporarily down and i couldn't find any other link by googling
            * I didn't configure anything (just installed the pack)

            Results for Tsunami:
            --------------------------

            * same error in BSPlay (unknown file format DIV3)
            * same error in WMP
            * opened file information in VirtualDub and everything is the same except for Decompressor: DivX MPEG-4 3920 Low

            Further plans ?
            -------------------

            * should I try to recopy the file using VirtualDub (direct stream or fast recompress ?)
            * should I try to use the FFDShow (as a standalone or in combo with ... ?)

            Again many thanks

                Still no luck

                What I've done:

                * uninstalled Tsunami Codec Pack
                * according to my sofware list in Win XP , all DivX related software is uninstalled
                * installed FFDShow 20020617
                * configured nothing

                Results:

                * BSPlay: the same (unknown file format DIV3)
                * WMP: the same (unknown error)

                VirtualDub show some interesting changes:
                * video compressor: DivX Codec 4.12
                * audio compression: Unknown (tag 0055)

                Any suggestions ?

                  -. Use Codec Sniper to permanently and effectively remove DivX 4.12.

                  -. Install FFDShow 20030103, which in my personal experience, perform very well and without a glitch. Remember to enable its decoding of DivX 3 materials from within its Configuration.

                    -Reboot your system

                    -When playing your problematic file (in WMP 6.4 or BSPLAYER) what decoder is decoding your file?

                      Where can I find this piece of software ?

                      I'm now going to install the FFDShow 20030103, reboot and post my finding.

                      Results to be expected soon ...

                        nothing changes

                        Hello again,

                        Steps taken:
                        * uninstalled old version of FFDShow
                        * installed new version of FFDShow (20030103)
                        * rebooted
                        * tried to play file

                        It seems like nothing makes a difference: the errors persist:
                        * BSPlay: unknown file format (DIV3)
                        * WMP 9.0: unknown error

                        I don't know how to see which decoder is used when playing the file in BSPlay or WMP. It gives an error while opening the file.

                        VirtualDub now gives this information:
                        * video compressor: DivX Codec 4.12
                        * audio compression: unknown (tag 0055)

                        Imho some of the old versions of the codec are causing conflicts with the new ones installed.

                        How can I remove all of my installed codecs for sure ?

                        Humble greetings

                          Codec Sniper

                          Hello,

                          I found out Codec Sniper is part of the Tsunami Filter Pack. So I was finally able to remove the nasty DivX 4.12.

                          The error keeps being the same.

                            Problem is solved

                            Hey,

                            I'm glad and proud to tell I finally found what was causing the error.

                            It turned out to be an error in my file ... so I have run DivFix and rebuild the index for the file.

                            Now the file works perfect !!!

                            Thanks everyone for helping me and see you around
