    XVID playback issues.

    Hi people.

after scanning the forum from all sides and not finding
a solution to a very irritating problem i have... i am forced
to publish it here... and seek for help.... SALVATION!!!!! ;P

    anyways...

while playing any movie coded using the XVID codec... the movie
plays ok for like 5 minutes... and from there on... every few minutes... it seems to SPEED UP... (meaning... u see the movie run like little bit faster... sometimes the audio continues regularly and sometimes, if the movie is going fast for a certain amunt of framers... the audio resyncs when the movie returns to normal speed).

i tried EVERYTHING... i used all 3 xvid codecs. used all avail versions.... replaced the ffd filter... to various versions. im quite
sure its not he filter. because when i play xvid with no filter installed... it still happens...

its not the source video, because the erorr does not repeat itself on the same place on the movie. a timespot where it onced played fast... now can be normal... it comes and goes...

i never used the nimo-crap-pack so its not that... also the error appread only when i reinstall winxp on a fresh partition. i have no spair codecs. only div3/div4/dv5/xvid/radium mp3 and ac3 filter.
    not even vobsub.

i tried like.... 10 players... bsplayer/windvd/cyberdvd/media player etc... it happens all the time. it occurs with both TVOUT and regulat pc screen... so its not that either (though i replaced and tried both new and old nvidia drivers...).

its not my cdr medias but it happens also on my hdd (segate 60gb 7200 ata 133 - no speed issues here )

i also tried changing the fourCC codes of an xvid file into dx50...
did not work... same error and some funny **** went on with the video... but it was a long shot...

i installed and re-installed like every possible thing... drivers/codec/filter etc... PLEASE help me...

btw: i did not witness the error with DIVX movies yet...
also it happend on NON ac3 xvid movies, so its not the ac3 filter...

    im using a p4 2.4ghz 533 with 256ddr (333) so cpu power is not the issue... also a mx440 64ddr gfx card...

    please help me people.
its not fun like this... ))

    thanks in advance. )

    maybe a solution?

have you considered the fact that windows no-matter-what-version-of-it sucks ass???
have u tried running the movie on other platforms, liek win98or even linux?
cause when the problem ís not codec, then it´s definitely windows....
the other option is to completely wipe the ****ing **** out of your pc and resintall everytihng all over again? cause some times the problem is so deep that there isn´t no uninstall-reinstall trick that will solve it....
i hope this gives you a lead on what to do, if not a hand...
    good luck man...
tell me what you tried if it worked.....
(by the way, try asking the programmers of xvid for any known bugs...maybe your configuration is the cause of the problem... who knows?)

heheh i actually think the same as you m8...
perhaps the winxp installation sucks ass...
though i installed it not a while ago on a formated partition...
and i do keep my windows very clean...

i will try in to install win2k with sp3 with a minimal
configuration and check to see if it happans again...

i dont think its my configuration, because it worked perfectly
on a previous installation... (winxp also)...

i will keep u informed people.

setarip, i can´t believe you´re suck a dick to waste time highlighting a stupid mistake instead of trying to say something that may actually help this guy....
by the way, are you some ****ing windows-lover?
(and now i´m the one wasting time to write a answer...)

gentelmen i have found the problem!

it was not the operating system...
              i installed a fresh copy of w2k with sp3.
installed only the basic codecs and ended up
              with the same error...

i was ready to giveup... then i started playing with the
              ac3 filter...

once i set the output from SPDIF to 2ch stereo...
it plays smoothly (though u need to disable normalize
and max the main volume chan...) but NO speeds up
              on the playback...

this is the problem. solution however i still dont have...
i assume dling another ac3 filter is useless... since im using
the newest one... (0.68b by vig...something... has a complex
              name ;P).

btw my audio card is an sblive 5.1 digital...
not so new... and worked before... i dunno
whats the cause of this... its the ac3 filter that's for
              sure...

when i recap also... every movie i played that speeds up
was AC3... (st: nemesis/25th hour/the recruit) a while back after the new wxp i played an xvid that didnt speed... now i remeber it was only stereo... (transporter xvid)...

              solutions ne1?
