DivX DVL playback problems

I recently downloaded a video file that plays back video perfectly, but no sound to it. It's properties state that it's a DivX-DVL. I came across some info regarding AC3 codec, which I've installed to no avail. I also tried viewing it through the Vidomi player, but still no go. I'd hate to erase it, as it seems to be a decent film. What advice does anyone have.
