What codecs to use?

Hi,

I would like to rip my DVD of the green mile but I was wondering what codecs I should use best for audio and video. I was considering to use Divx or Xvid for video and MP3 and AC3 5.1 for Audio. What codecs should I use?

Hi, what about RealVideo9 + RealAudio. i used to use the DivX codec, cuz it is simple to use, but now i like more the RV9. the quality looks better & it is easy to set up. try the AUTORV9. i hope you will like it.

If your aiming for 1CD, I'd go for XviD with B-Frame enabled (x2) for best quality with MP3 audio (considering the lenth of movie)

But that's just my opinion

lol I went with Xvid and AC3 and now all are tied up!

I like to use DivX 5.0.5 and Cyberlink's Power MP3. They look good and it usually turns out less than 700MB. But I'm just trying to burn to CD-R. If I get a DVD burner I'll try 5.1 audio. But blank CD-Rs are soooo cheap!
