Having trouble playing AVI of "That '70s Show"

Okay, I can't get this AVI to play.

I've read through all the stuff, downloaded new DivX player, new DivX codecs, ffdshow filter and it won't work.

Windows Media Player won't play it at all, giving me a "Class not registered" message.

The DivX player will open it and play it for just 5 seconds then close it. The video clip is definitely 22 minutes and 7 seconds, and according to GSpot...

I would assume all I need is the Div3 codec from the DivX codec pack. But it's not working.

Help please?

I'm getting "Class not registered" messages on a couple of other AVI and MPEG files that are able to play okay on other's computers, but the majority of my files play fine. Not this one, though.

Oh and the Status are disabled because it gives me this message...

I tried re-installing the LAME codec, but no dice. How would I go about just un-installing the LAME MP3 codec? Will that resolve it?

It's probably the VERY low video bitrate.
With 148kb/s it's probably garbage anyway, so don't bother

Okay, I'll try and find a different file somewhere else. Thanks for the tip.

Oddly enough, another episode I downloaded was around the same filesize, played fine in WMP, and the video quality was okay.

Recreate the index using DivFix or VirtualDub

Sounds to me like you have a bad index. Run it through DivFix to create a new one, or just open it up in VirtualDub and it will tell you if there is a problem or not. Recreate the index and you should be able to open the file.

Yea I would run it thru Virtualdub. "The DivX player will open it and play it for just 5 seconds then close it." Sounds like the index. But also you do realise the the "Div3 codeq" is the divx 3.11 codeq which wouldnt exactly fall under the "new divx codeqs" catagory.
