If you are interested in viewing only, I recommend you uninstall ALL those codecs and install FFDShow. Configure it to play the various supported MPEG-4 compression formats (DivX 3 - 5, XviD, etc.).

As for the player, try using Windows Media Player 6.4 (run "mplayer2.exe" from the Run command) or BSPlayer.

I am having the same problem. It has been fine for a very long time.
Then a couple of days ago I installed the xvid codec.
      Could this be the problem??

      Thanks for any input

Somebody please give us an idea why is this happening. I uninstlaled all the codecs and installed the ffdshow and the tsunami pack, but I still have this problem.

My laptop was fine playing movies before, but lately this has started occuring what Jeilsoe described. It is driving me nuts!

Actualy the tsunami codecs fixed this now! What a relief. However, it said that some of the original windows files have been replaced with the tsunami instalation. Should I be worried?

Pay no attention to those error messages...
