    blank screen problem with wmp

hi all, i need some expert help on this.

i had this divx file, was able to view it on my machine, winxp with wmp 9 with all the codec installed. i burned it and used it on a different machine, win2k with wmp 9 and all the codec installed too. i keep getting a blank screen. no sound, no video.

i used gspot to check the file, it said that it was able to render it properly. i tried divfix to check if the file was corrupted somehow during the burning process. all looks fine.

i tried also with the free divx player. i got the error that it was not able to open the file.

any advice will be greatly appreciated

Have you successfully played the burned CD on your WinXP machine?

      setarip,

i was able to play the burned cd on the winxp machine.

i am suspecting that somehow on the win2k machine, it is not using the correct codec or program to render the divx file. but i have no idea on checking that...tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling and still does not work.

Try copying the file from the CD-R to the hard drive of your Win2K machine. I suspect you may have trouble accomplishing that.

If I'm correct, try running a DVD/CD cleaning disk on the Win2K player/burner. Maxell makes one that sells for approximately $10US...

          setarip,

unfortunately, i have tried that too.
i even ran gspot on the copied file (harddisk of win2k machine) and it said that it was able to render the file successfully.

it does not make any sense to me. i wonder if the registry has been screwed up or there has been some known issues with divx and win2k.
