    xvid green screen

anyone had this problem where you play back an xvid movie on a pc and you get a green screen .. i have all the codecs and filters ,,i have divx pro 5.04 and xvid codec and nimo codec pack .. and when i play it in power dvd or windows media player i get bad pixelisation and green screen and the colours are really bad.. can it be played with these viewing programs or does it need a divx player so view them ..cos i want to be able to convert it to a dvd so i can play it on my standalone dvd player ., if anyone could help me with the problem i would be really gratefull ..

    thanx

you just needed the ffdshow filter. instead of nimo, use the tsunami codec pack for future good luck with movies. I have never heard a real good report about nimo, and I haven't heard bad things about tsunami. tsunami is put together with knowledge, not slopped together like nimo that causes conflicts.
you can download tsunami from the link in my signature

By the way, PowerDVD & Media Player have no problems playing XVID files in my experience.....

          This wasn't your problem.

I like the previous person fear the problem lay with the Nimo Build Codec Pack.

This release of Codecs has a notorious reputation for problems. I agree with the above and say get Tsunami codec pack. This should work fine...

          Happy Trails

thanx for the help and tips about the nimo codec pack that has been wiped clean from my pc and has been replaced by the codec pack you guys had suggested

kind of new to this converting files stuff ...

one question i could ask while were on the subject of films is .

do you know of a good program that can trim little bits of the beggining or ends of a film cos some of the files i get seem to play the end of the first disc again on the begginging of the second disc and this can be annoying when you join the files as a dvd ..just out of curiosity ..if you guys would know of anything

            any help is gratefully acknowlegded

              Yes,

You could use Virtual Dub to do this, by selecting the part of the file you want to rip. (i.e the whole file exept the very end or begining)

If you use TMPENC to encode to DVD you can set the source range on that too to do the same.

I`m having the same problem with green blocks on my video, the sound seems to be there, but the video is just green boxes.

I have tried the tsunami filter pack, ( version 3.8.9 ), but it has made no difference, but I did notice that this version of tsunami didn`t have an XviD codec with it.

did I get the wrong pack, or is it still a problem ?

how can I solve this ? , I used to be able to play the movies, but I cant now, and all I did to upset it was to upgrade my DivX. I have tried to uninstall/delete all the codec files in my system and start again, but it still not working?

is there a way of finding out what files I need to remove so that I can re-install all my codecs from `new` ?

I think your problem could be that you have installed two codec packs at the same time more than anything else.

If you go to Control Panel - Add Remove Programs and look down the list you should see the packs on there, My advice is to uninstall them both and then go to Uncas's site which is here...

Go to downloads and download the Tsunami Filter Pack 3.9.9 Full.

Install this and this alone and you should get a result.

                  Good luck

                      First of all,
Have you tried uninstalling all of the codecs you have installed before hand so that your computer is a video virgin again. (This is normally done by using the add/remove programs method or using an uninstall file which comes with most codec packs) Doing this will leave your computer free from any potential conflict threat and clean of any codec scum caused from badly made codecs.

Once you get to this stage you know when you install a codec pack which is known to work perfectly (Or as near as poss) such as the Tsunami codec pack it should work problem free....

You see if you are installing two codec pack over the top of each other this obviously causes major problems. The green screen and mucky sounding audio is a perfect example of the result.

Clean your system and install the Tsunami codec pack version 3.9.9 Full from this website: Click ME....

Let me know how things go.....
