VOB Editing/adding audio

I have a dvd that I rip to harddrive and then pulled out the subs and foreign languages. My problem is i want to take the audio and convert it to 5.1 sound instead of 2.0 sound. Does anybody have any suggestions. I have Vegas+Dvd with the ac3 encoder to convert the sound. Can I just insert the vobs and convert them to to 5.1 sound.

Add subtittle to a DVD

I convert a Divx to DVD, but I fail to add subtittlies to my DVD.
Do you know how I should proceed to put subtittles in a DVD.

Please explain further - Isn't the ORIGINAL audiostream (from the DVD) 5.1?

setarip, no the original movie was a 2.0 Dolby Digital. I tried taking just the vob file in DVD Architect and changing it to Dolby 5.1 Everything checked out in IFOedit. But when I burned the DVD it didn't play any audio at all. Any suggestions?
