Yeah Skd i tried it again and this is exactly what it says

" Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'Xvid' (unknown)
VirtualDub requires a video for Windows compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."

What does this mean and why is it coming up?

It means the Xvid codec is NOT installed. Try installing FFDshow

What capture software, video codec, and settings did you use to capture your home video?

                            The solution is here!!!

I've experienced the same problem, and found a solution!

Your graphic card is likely set to 16 bit color. This will in my experience produce a black screen, with audio!

Change your graphic card to 32 bit color, and voila!!! Your video is now present, and can be enjoyed with some pop-corn and cola!

                            Regards Eizo_DK

I had the same problem, but I was able to fix it. What I did was download the newest Xvid (doesn't matter who's) and then I downloaded Nimo 5.0 codecs. I preformed a custom install and only installed the AC3 filters (note: Did not install fdshow) and then everything worked great.
