    Strange XVID problem

I have got a very wierd problem concerning the XVID codec, i'm not sure if its an encoding or playblack issue though. I regularly record footage off my camcorder onto my computer using a firewire cable, i then convert the DV footage using virtualdub to a preset i have created, this is noramlly the xvid codec with a bitrate of 4000..( i think)
I have never had a problem with this before, but the last batch of footage i converted won't play on any media player on my computer, it just freezes and i have to close the program down, if i load up the xvid files in virtualdub i can get a picture, but it is black and white, there is also some text overlaid on the video, it appears to be the current frame, some other information and the word - IVOP.
i haven't got a clue what i'm doing wrong, i'm thinking it could be something to do with the codec i'm using to play the files back, but it won't play on tow of my machines, only in virtualdub.
    any help would be awesome...
    thnx
Working...
