Here's the problem:
I'm using my laptop (P4 1.6 GHz, 512 MB RAM, Radeon 7500, XP) for playback in my living room. Now, for about an hour to an hour and a half (give or take) everything is fine. No lagging whatsoever. But at about the hour and a half mark, the video will lag momentarily and then speed up and remain in sync with the audio. Usually the first instance of lagging is very quick, almost unnoticeable. After a few occurences, though, the lag becomes a bit longer (though usually not much more than 5 seconds).
I saw another thread about a problem that sounded similar to mine and someone suggested using WMP 6.4 and so I did. Everything seemed to be fine until about an hour and forty-five minutes into the movie and then the sound cut out. It was only for about 10-15 seconds but annoying nonetheless. I was hoping it was a one-time occurence so I ignored it. However, this happened 3 more times over the next 30 minutes. Incidentally, this has happened before (the sound cutting out for 10-15 seconds) but never more than once per movie.
I would think my system is poweful enough to handle DivX playback with ease, so I don't think that's the problem. A friend suggested that maybe my laptop isn't getting enough air where it's located (I set it up on a bookshelf next to the television) and that may be causing my problem.
So the question is: what's causing the problem? Is my laptop not getting enough air to cool itself? Is it something else entirely? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
