Frame drop from VHS, not TV tuner.

I use the video as TV tuner and when I capture from a tv channel I only get 1 or 2 frames dropped per minute but when I press play and capture from VHS the frames drop like crazy, a couple of hundred per minute! Anyone know what's wrong?

    I'm capping with Vdub.

Initially capture with a lossless video codec, such as HuffyUV. Although this will result in a very large initial file, you can then convert/compress it significantly by applying a DivX codec...

    (Capture at 30fps)

Doesn't work, stil drops a couple hundred frames per minute.

It's PAL btw, if that makes a difference.

        1) Sounds like you've probably got an underpowered system. What are the specs?

        2) What capture software are you using?

Yes, you should probably capture at 25fps, but I doubt that's going to alter your success ratio...

            "I have a Athlon XP2000"

If you're using the HuffyUV video codec, you shouldn't be dropping any frames at all. One of my machines is an archaic Athlon 800 (with an ASUS 7100 Deluxe Combo card [32Mb GeForce2MX]) - and it's NEVER dropped frames with the HuffyUV codec.

I just absorbed this from your initial post, "I use the video as TV tuner"

Exactly what do you mean by this? Do you mean something other than hooking up your TV cable(s) to the "Video-In"and "Audio-In" connectors of your Pinnacle card?

I have TV ant connected to my video and the video connected to the Pinnacle card. it work just fine when i recording live TV when i push play on my video to record from the VHS tape it start droping frames as hell.

I use koaxial connection not S-VHS or composit.

I presume by "video" you actually mean VCR...

If your card has (I believe RCA plugs) composite video-in socket and two audio-in sockets as well, hook your VCR up to the card in that fashion...
