It first started out like this. I had a file I recieved in Xvid format.
I decided I wanted to convert it to Divx as the 100 fps of the movie bogged down my system (even though it has a 128mb vidcard and 2ghz proc ;_.
I was instructed to use a program that came with my Xvid codec, Nic's Mini AviC FourCC Changer. I switched it from its original setting (xvid, I think it was) to Divx. But now, nothing encoded in Divx will play. Nothing. I get this error message upon loading a file in Divx.
Alert: This file contains unknown video data.
The video file you are opening includes video data that is not
recognized by the DivX player.
The file contains the following type of data:
Video data: FOURCC code "Div3"
You may need to install a new video codec on your computer to watch this video.
You can pretty much substitute DIV3, XVID, DIVX, etc. for the "DIV3" box in the error...I've tried switching them but nothing seems to work. By the way, I have the newest Xvid codec, and the newest DivX player. I'm about to tear my hair out. I've made things worse for myself. I complained about my machine freezing up constantly while viewing the file (even with newest codec) and now I've made it so I can't view ANY Divx and Xvid encoded files. Can anyone help me?..
