Sound problem !!!

Hi everyone !

I have a problem with the sound at some divx movies. Is there a way to find out what codecs my avi uses???

From within Explorer, rightclick on the file. Select "Properties". Select the "Details" tab. You'll see information about, among other things, the video and audio codecs used to create the video.

i was having the same problem, so i installed divx 4.12. Now windows media player doesnt play the files at all. It says "playing" but the slide bar doesnt move, no picture plays and no audio plays either. Any suggestions on whats gone wrong?

whaqt sound codecs are used more often????
i have divx 4.12, mplayer 6.4, mplayer 7.1 and mplayer 8.0 codecs installed. what codec should i search ?

Well...
If your AVI has MP3 Audio Format U would get sound because the
MP3 Decompressor comes with the mplayer.
There is a possibility that u have AC-3 sound in your movie.
If u do u have to download the AC-3 Filters from the below link and run the exe file

one of them works with the ac3 codecs.
but the other one does not works. in propreties/details field is sais "Windows Media Audio V2, 32 kbps, 32 kHz, mono". my mplayer2 automaticly conects to microsoft searching for codec, and then i get the msg: a decompresor was found but it does not work!!!
can you help me?

i found a codec. i downloaded "ACE Mega CoDecS Pack " and now it works. thanks everyone for your help. great site, great forum, great guys... thanks.

in the software section of www.divx-digest.com, at the codecs tab you will find that codec pack.

there is still one file that does not play with audio.
after i installed the ac3 codecs the audio (in mplayer) became active but i can't hear any sound.

anybody know the solution to this???

Yes but have u configured your sound?
If not u have to.
My Mplayer doesn't play DivX with AC-3 Sound either
I use PowerDivX 3.07 for my DivX/AC-3 Playback
Download it it's freeware

i tried with powerdivx 3.12. i did not find 3.07. but my avi still does not plays with sound. in the propreties tab is still unknown format at sound. and i have installed ac3 codecs. there has to be a way for that sound... but as i said in mplayer the sound volume is active !?! if my sound does not work, if i decompress the sound from my avi file in a huge (uncompressed) wav will i hear anything ???

Like 3 days ago u said that the AC-3 Codecs worked and that u had sound.What sound was that?What happened since then?

i had 4 movies witch were not working with sound. with ac3 codecs one of them works. 2 of them works after i installed ace pack codecs. the last one still does not have sound but as i said the volume control from mplayer is active, just no sound comes out.
