covert subtitles (sub/idx) to srt or sub(without idx)

Please i need to know how to convert the subtitle format (sub/idx) to sub (without idx) or srt

I really hate those idx files!!!

are you refering to the sub picture format (the one you can find into vob) or the sub text format (like srt)? because you may have to do a font recognition to generate the srt text file.
in both cases try subrip or vobsub tools.
