    Are there any standalone players out there that playback divx, xvid movies???
    My standalone doesnt. Is there any way to enable it to play divx/xvid???

    no you cannot enable a normal dvd player to play divx /mpeg 4

      i'm gonna burn a divx file and play it in my standalone to see if it works. but if it doesnt, it isnt going to cause any damage to the standalone is it???

        normally not, since you either use iso or udf method
        the cd maybe will be recognized as such. but it won´t be played.
        divx playing on a standalone is a very good feature and if
        your player was able to do so the manufacturers would have
        mentioned it. believe me.

        the yamada player will be sold for about 100 €. check on its abilities. the test reports look promising.
        If I wasn´t equipped with a Kiss DP 450 I would surley give it a try. maybe I do anyway as a second player for my bedroom

          does the yamada player playback cd/dvd-rw? It states it can play the following

          Running discs: CD-Audio, CD-Video, S-Video, MP3-CD, MP3-DVD, JPEG-CD, JPEG-DVD
          Formats: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX 3.11, DivX 4.x, DivX 5.x, Xvid

            I don´t think that they have changed the drive itself...in the 6000
