Video but no audio: Can someone help?

Hey there. I have some avi files that don't work properly, i.e they have no audio but show video. I took the advice in the sticky thread and used Gspot to see what was going on. I have three pictures here. The first is the overview screen, the second is the audio screen and the third is the render screen.

I've tried installing 3.11 alpha but I get exactly the same error message and exactly the same messages in GSpot. Here's the render message:
