Xvid stuttering

Lo! Another reinstall, another problem P

(after an untimely mobo death, ive been reinstalling
win2k et al)

i can watch most files with out problems, bar a few odd
divx encodes. Xvid encoded files contimue to give me problems-
this time it looks like a slight variation in frame rate, giving
the effect of juddering. Its not severe, its just that once its
caught the eye its maddening, mainly because i cant get it to go away. Its most obvious in high motion camera movements.
Im using Core Player at the moment.

Changing qualty settings doesnt help.
Ive tried ffdshow and different codec packs and players
without change.

Does anyone know of any utils to scrub each and every codec
from a system? The number of changes ive made cant be good
for it.

Anyone who wants to watch Xvid video should take a look at this site. That link will direct you to Koepi's (stable) binary and Nic's latest standalone decoder DirectShow filter. Download both of those and your stuttering problem should be fixed. Uninstall your previous version of xvid if you don't already have the one I recommended then restart and install it. The DirectShow filter is what got rid of my problem. You might just need that. Good luck.

Use codec sniper to kill off any 'bad' codecs... then reinstall the proper codec.

Tried other players like WMP 6.4 or BSPlayer? With FFDShow set to handle XviD contents, have you enabled Post-processing, setting the slider bar to the maximum (right-most position) and ticking Automatic Quality Control?

i tried your link but it just says i'm leeching and should
go in the "proper" way. I tried that and got told i was a leech again P
If you have the .exe file to hand would you mind mailing it
to me directly?

i used to use mediaplyer 6.4 for preference, but have had no success with that, MPC 6.4.60, or The Core player.
Where do the options you describe live in WMP/MPC?

When you install FFDShow, your Start menu should be provided with the path to FFDShow Configuration. If you have deleted it, then you can access it by playing a video file in WMP 6.4, right-clicking on the video and selecting Properties. Go to the Advanced tab and locate the enty for FFDShow. Double-click on it to gain access to its Configuration.

okay, i attacked the properties as instructed
meybe im just going blind, but i really couldnt see
any difference. I'll just tweak till its either all fixed
or all broken.
could just be that my XVids will just behave that
way due to encode size, its just that DivX and co
work fine ending up with the same filesizes.

Like I said, install Tsunami Filter Pack 3.99 and use the codec sniper ONLY to kill off bad codecs.
