    audio and video unsyncronized

    Hi all :

I´m new to this forum and digital video.
    I have a problem with a movie I have.
My PC is an old Celeron 466 with 160 Mbytes RAM and 1024x768 screen size. CDROM is x 40
The movie is in *.avi format. The codec needed to see it is XviD which I installed first.
To see the movie I use the Windows Media Player 9.
I can see the movie, but sound is some 2 to 5 second later than the image.
Besides, the playback has breaks, where the HardDisk works a lot. Also, during the whole 2 hours playback, the Hard Disk shows constant activity.

    Don't use WMP 9.0.

    Instructions:
    1. Install FFDShow
    2. Use either BSPlayer, Media Player Classic or MV2 Player for playback.
    3. If all else fails, get a new computer.

Btw, turn off all unnecessary programs in the background.

      audio and video unsyncronized

      Hi WildmanJoe :

I have already installed BSPlayer in my PC, but I have no video when I play the same movie.
I could not find the reason why I can see and hear the movie with WMP9, but without video with BSPlayer.
Also, some other movie, also in avi format, has no video with BSPlayer.
BSPlayer seems to be a nice player, but without video, unusable.
I´ll thank you a lot if I can avoid using WMP9.

I`ve solved the problem with the BSPlayer.
The video resolution I`m using in my PC is 1024 x 768.
With this screen configuration BSPlayer cannot reproduce video. I`ve changed to 640 x 480 and the BSPLayer now shows the video and the audio is syncronized.

                Gracias.

                  emoreira.....

as you stated bs player is the choice because it can display *srt
and many more subtitles....without the need of vodsub filter

have you noticed that you can leave your system display setting
                  at 1024x768

in the options-->preferences of bsplayer in the general category you can set bsplayer to change resolution either at start or
at fullscreen mode....the resolution change will be reversed
when bs player is terminated....by the way there are direct show
filters for most codecs available that suit better for lower machines

cheeck the nimo and tsunami filter and codec pack and the resolution change thing might seize at all

                    HI shiny#3 :

I´ll repeat my last post as it´s in spanish.
I´ve downloaded the crystalplayer. It´s great.
This player allows me to play all the movies and video clips I have in the original monitor resolution.
I know that BSplayer can change the monitor resolution, but I had a bad experience when the resolution did not go back to the original.
A second point is that crystalplayer loads itself the subtitles file if it´s called as the movie file with the srt extensionand if it´s in the same directory.BSplayer needs manual action toload the subtitles file.
Anyway, changing resolution to 640 x 480 is the best option for old PCs to aviod speed problems.
