Picture Freezes ( Cant Keep Up) ??

I use DivX player pro with Gordian Knot codec pack. It will Play anything perfectly on my new computer.

The picture freezes and skips constantly on my old computer with the same programs (but has pentium III and windows 2000. What is the most common cause for this????

It seems like something cant keep up with the video streem. Is it the processor, the CD-ROM drive, the stock video card or Windows 2000???

Also I play all video files directly from CD-ROM (CD-R)

    Please Help!!!!!!

I may have a similar problem. Does the picture and audio appear to skip forwards at irregular intervals, but, does it always skip in the same place when you replay the same video clip?
Do you have the same problem when playing DVD's ?
Do you have problems playing streaming videos and/or audio clips ?
Does the same problem happen in with other media players ?
Do you have a capture card fitted ?

      "but has pentium III"

Obviously, this is a lower powered system.

Shut down all unnecessary programs that may be running in the background

      Reduce DESKTOP resolution to 640x480

Reduce DESKTOP colordepth to 16 bit color (or less)

@yegs916 : Did you really have to post *FIVE* copies of the same message everywhere?

You would know this is against the rules (rule #11), if you had read them :
