very weird brightness problem

when i start up my pc and start seeing a movie everything seems ok. but when i open another movie or even the same movie , everything is suddenly way too dark. i have the problem with all codecs (divx/xvid/...) , so i have to reboot to be able to see another movie.

i already tried :
other codecs
reinstalling my pc & changing from winXp to win2k
another player

but the problem stays , does anyone know a solution to this problem ?

ffdshow filter. get it and see if it works the first time, if not, then adjust the settings

ffdshow does not solve the problem , i can adjust the brightness but ... mpeg files are still too dark cause they don't use ffdshow ...
