Edit DV from Sony Digital Handicam

I am trying to edit clips from DV that I got on my sony Handicam.. However all the progs I have seem to either crash or not touch the avi rips of it.

Things I need to do..

1. Overlay audio (ie songs) but keep some of the original audio.
2. Cut out sections of video and recreate a new clip.

That is about it.. the format that I am using is...

720x480 px, 29.97 fps, 24 Bitsperpixel Color, DVSoft(TM) Compression..

does anyone know what I could use as a good editor.. and output a video with the same format?

Download and install a DV codec, such as Canopus or MainConcept - and then try your programs...
