Problems with "sudden fast forward" during playback

During playback of DivX movies the movie can play just fine for several minutes and then suddenly do fast forward for about a second and return to normal speed.
This happens to almost all my encoded movies.

The movies are encoded with Gordian Knot and I've tried several versions of the DivX codecs. I use the original AC3 soundtrack and play the movie using "SPDIF out" on my SB Live 5.1 soundcard.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I too had this problem using SPDIF output on a SB Live Value sound card. It is VERY annoying!!!

I tried installing latest drivers without success. In the end uninstalling the Creative Labs drivers and reverting to the native XP drivers resolved this issue.

Unfortunately, yes. The basic SB Live driver in WinXP is, to put it bluntly, basic.

May I suggest a good alternative driver to the Creative driver "junk": kX Project. This driver does not incorporate the EAX effects (be concerned about it if and only if you are a gamer and require these sound effects). For all other things, the kX Project driver is a winner.

They work... but others work even better (and don't leave rubbish around when uninstalled). No surprise really.

        Regards.
