I converted an asf-video to avi by using VirtualDUB with direct-stream-copy for audio and video. The asf-video had a size of 162 MB but the avi-video had less than 100MB. The quality seems to be exactly the same, so what happened? Had asf used the 62 MB for nothing?

Better compression on the AVI file perhaps? In all honesty, it should be bigger, but then the whole DV business can be completely bizarre and defy normality sometimes. I multiplexed the same file (or two files ) using two different multiplexors, and one came out at around 700MB, the other at 900MB. So, where was that 200MB coming from?....
