No Sound, Gspot says fine, but doesn't render

Trying to watch a video, and I can't get the sound to work. I load it in Gspot and it says I have 2 audio codec that should work. When I render it, the audio is blank. The Video is fine. I load it into a player and the video is fine, but no sound. I've been able to fix all other sound problems with other movies, but this one has stumped me.

My only thought is that the video simply is missing the audio. Is there any way to test this?

Attempting to save the gspot image...

As a thought, I was thinking of loading this into Virtualdub(mod), and seeing if i Could extract the audio... Just thought of it now, but have to go to work. Will try it if no one else has any other suggestions. Thanks

    1) Load the original video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

i'm having the exact same problem .. files are attached in a .rar

edit: this seems to be a problem with 0x0055(MP3) .. i see two others in this forum having sound problems with that ID.

edit2: after messing around with nandub and re-exporting the file, it seems there's an error in the audio stream .. i can get 5 minutes and 28 seconds of it (working nicely) before nandub gives me an error.

Things like this often happen with archived files indeed (.zip and .rar types come into mind). Hence one should always be prepared to receive corrupted downloads when dealing with them, more so if the download was resumed from certain points.

          Cheers.

I got playing around with it, loaded it up in virtual dub (and mod), and rewrote the file, tried everything I could, almost positive that the file was just simply missing the audio, because when I re-wrote it the audio was always 0 bytes. So I dl'ed a different file/same movie and it worked just fine. Just thought I'd post my findings! Thanks for all the info!
