Partial A/V Sync Prob

OK so on two of my AVI's, the a/v is fine up until about an hour into the movie then it glitches and the a/v goes out of sync.
I have looked at a few tutorials, but they only seem any good, if the whole film is out of sync, and not part of it.

I also don't have the VOB files any longer as I needed the HD space. So does anyone have any good ideas on how to solve this slight problem?

Use VirtualDub (or VirtualDubMOD, if necessary) to split the .AVI at the point that it starts to go out of synch - and then apply one of the methods you learned by having, "looked at a few tutorials, but they only seem any good, if the whole film is out of sync, and not part of it." to the second part.

Then use VirtualDub (or VirtualDubMOD, if necessary) to join the corrected second part to the first part. Make certain to set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copy"...

When it goes out of sync an hour into the movie is the A/V time difference the same at the point where it started to go off and at the end of the movie. (if the former, the cut/paste method will work, if not, then you have stretched audio) - from my experience with dealing w/ stretched audio, I'd say go ahead and re-encode! Not worth the trouble.
