    Blocky playback with ATI All in Wonder 128 Pro

    When playing Divx movies, DVDs or any other video file using my ATI All in Wonder 128 Pro (uses the Rage chipset) the video is full of "blocks". It looks like any shade of gray is what does it. The picture is fine, but any colour in the black and white range is full of big ugly "pixely" blocks. I've tried the card on two different machines with clean installed and updated drivers. I've had this problem for years but only started using it for watching video recently. The same video files on another machine with a GeForce4 Ti4200 look great. Do I need a new card, or is there a solution for this? I can post a screen shot if anyone wants one.

    Thanks,

    E

      Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card. Reinstalling XP would cause the drivers to go back to the old default, and that's why your DVD playback would even look bad.

          Removing MACROvision might solve the problem.

          You need a macrovision removal tool to remove atitvo.dll or ATITVO32.DLL.

          You can find it here;

          Make sure all video drivers are up to date. (Check Ati website. I'm also using InterVideo WinDVD 6 to play DVD's. Ati DVD player and multimedia pack was giving me bad/dark playback)

          Quality is still worse then on my newer computer so I think you will never have the same quality as with a better/newer video card.
