    Converting .wmv/.mpg/.mpeg into a .gif

I have a very short .wmv (under 400kb) and im trying to convert into a .gif for signature purposes on other sites.

I cant find a converter to work for this, I can post the clip here if anyone needs me to.

    thx

A .gif? As in a still image??

I'd use screen capture (play the video, then hit PrintScreen when it gets to the bit you want) then go to Paint (which you presumably have!) and paste with Ctrl + V. The captured screen will appear. You can then use Paint's tools to crop the image to the one you want, and when saving, make sure you use the drop down box to change the file format from .bmp to .gif.

If that's what you were looking for....

    ...I can't believe I actually helped someone!

I think Mike's actually referring to an animated gif.

I use Premiere to export all my media clips to a picture sequence, then load them into Image Ready and make them into an animation. Not sure if Premiere opens .wmv files tho, coz I never use the wretched format.
