Can't convert mpg to DVD format

I have several files in mpg/mpeg format and I've tried to burn them onto DVD or VCD format using retail version of Nero Burning ROM v6.0.0.3. No matter what compression quality, audio encoding etc is set the audio alway deviates from the video in the final product - what am I doing wrong?

the mpg's play fine, the ifo/vob's have the glitch - it doesn't matter whether I save the ifo/vob's to CD, DVD or Hard disk

What application did you use to author the mpegs to DVD format?

just Nero Burning Rom, it gives the option to encode to DVD from lots of file types and mpeg/mpg is one accepted filetype

You might want to check again. To my knowledge, the application "NeroVision" is the only program in the Nero Suite that can author DVD files. Nero Burning Rom just burns compliant DVD files as well as CDs.

Thanks for making that clear. From your 2nd post:

"the mpg's play fine, the ifo/vob's have the glitch - it doesn't matter whether I save the ifo/vob's to CD, DVD or Hard disk"

I'm not that familiar with the features of NeroVision, but check to see if there is some sort of audio correction function. TMPGEnc (the regular encoding program) has an "Audio Gap Correction" feature where sync problems can be corrected.
