    X-Card

    Hi Digital-people !

I've heard that Sigma Designs & DivX Networks would soon release a X-Card (not sure of the name) that could decode MPEG-2 & MPEG-4 Video !
It means that a low CPU PC could playback perfectly DivX films !

    Groovy !

I'm WAY excited about this. Does anybody have any other information about this card? I know it is supposed to be out in March and run $99.95 with the remote, but will there be any kind of copy protection? It would suck if I got one of these only to find out that DVD-rips, Telesyncs, etc. wouldn't play on it. Also, I am curious about all of the codecs out there, AC3, etc. If this has a divx decode chip on it, will it support all of the audio & video codecs?

      Chip support ...

The most important doc I found about this project was about the main chip itself, the thing I'm not sure of, is if this chip will be the same on the X-Card.
According to what I viewed on Sigma Design website, the chipsets of the EM8470 serie can decode MPEG-1/2/4, Dolby D 5.1 and DTS (with S/PDIF output)... The 2 best of the serie have a S-Video digital input and a digital input too ! But only the verrry best of them has an OPTIONAL Macrovision. I just hope that DivX Networks will use this one for their cards !
4 more info about the chips :

the more i think about it, the more it looks better. if anyone gets ahold of one, let us know how it is! Do you think that it will available in most electronics stores?
