DivX 5.1.1 no playback if ripped from start

Hi all.

Have just ripped a movie (with DVDx 2.2 and DivX 1.1.1) and when i play it back in windows media player it thinks its an mp3 but with no sound. If i rip it from later on in the film when there is a picture (7 secs) it plays fine.

I've ripped a few movies before ages ago using 1.0.5 and had no probs and cant think what is wrong.

I checked the file with gspot and it says i've got the right codecs to play the file and that direct show claims to be able to play the file. but it bloody doesnt. Anyone got any ideas?

rip the movie with a different program. ifm you are wanting the movie to be under 700MB then use DVD Shrink. if you want it the around the same size as a DVD 4GB then use Smart Ripper or find another ripping software that is capiable of ripping in DIVX format or XVID format etc.
