Is it possible to convert a quicktime mov from a CD into a a dvd or at least mpg ?

Hello, I'm new here and I basically know a little about converting files but i recently bought a VTC training video ( Virtual Training Company) on CD . My question is, is there a way I could Rip the quicktime movie off the CD & put it into a format like a DvD or mpg (Vcd) format ? Is there a software I could purchase that does this type of thing? sorry if this might be a stupid question, I just dont know & would rather see this CD on my TV rather than my computer..
    Thanks in advance..

You can use TMPGEnc (30 day frees trial) to convert your MOV files to DVD compliant MPG files. See if the MOV files are available in the CD directory, then copy them to your HDD. Load the MOV from your HDD into TMPGEnc, and select a template for DVD, according to your TV system, i.e. PAL or NTSC (or your could use the wizard to do this). After the conversion is complete, which could take a while depending on the file size, load the resulting MPG into TMPGEnc DVD Author (a different program, also with, I believe, a free trial period), where you can set up a menu and chapter points, if you wish. After authoring, you can burn a DVD.

I noticed you mentioned VCD is an option, too. That would eliminate the authoring step, though the quality is not as good. You can also use TMPGEnc to convert the MOV files to a VCD MPG, but be sure to select the proper VCD template, or use the wizard.

Sorry for the fractured response! You might also need a plugin for TMPGEnc that will enable it to read MOV files. You can get it here:

Locate the QTReader.vfp and download it and then copy this file into TMPGEnc's folder and you can read any QuickTime movie.

Not sure about the particulars of reading ROM CDs, and so maybe some one else can help with that. I would think there would be a way. Can you open the CD without playing it, to see what files it has, or is everything embedded somehow in the CD structure?
