VHS to DVD enhancement

I’ve got a rare vhs video film which I want to back up to dvd so as not to ruin and stretch the vhs tape by repeatedly playing it.
I’ve read that after using a few high tech conversion costly gadgets, line doublers, image enhancers etc, you can convert a standard vhs video & get to very high quality, near dvd film, (prolly load of tosh ? )

Was wondering if ne1 on the board can offer there views ?, has any1 done this or can offer this conversion / enhancement service. ?

There's not really any way to get any higher quality video out of a VHS tape. As the saying goes: "garbage in, garbage out".

You're really limited by the quality of your source. You could try running the video through filters, and this may help alleviate some of the quality loss caused by capturing the video. However, I wouldn't expect to get near-DVD quality from a VHS tape.
