    problems playing on a burned CDROM

    While in the process of "backing up" my 10 DVD set of the Muppet Show from Time Life (well worth the $175. Way cool for us thirty year olds), I noticed that they play fine on my PC after compression into Divx.

    When I burn them on a CDRom though, the sound goes out of sink and lags behind for a few seconds.

    What am I missing??

    I am using SmartRipper to rip them, and FlaskMPeG to compress the vobs into Divx. I have a homebuilt P3 1. Gig with a half a gig of RAM.

    Thanks.

    I presume you mean that they play fine from the hard drive, but not from the CD. If that's the case, explore these options:

    1) Try switching the CD drive's DMA setiing to the opposite of whatever it presently is (If it's "Off", turn it "On". If it's "On", turn it "Off").

    2) Go into the Control Panel and maximize the setting for the CD drive.

    3) When playing the CD version under Windows Media Player, rightclick in the middle of the video image and select "Properties". Click on "Advanced". Select the DivX compressor. Move the "CPU" slider. Click on "Apply". Click on "OK". Return to the movie.

    Let us know of your success ;>}

      OK. I think I'm missing a setting somewhere.
      When I play my Muppets Divx on my work machine, a crappy AMD 350 with 128 Megs of RAM and Windows 2000, the audio goes out of sink. I tried it on my boss's Dell, a 1.6 Pentium 4 with 256 Megs of RAM, AND IT PLAYED TOO FAST!!!!

      Is there a setting somewhere in Flask that sets the playback speed??

      Thanks

        I know of a movie going out of synch on a slow machine, but not one that goes too fast on an adequately powered machine.

          My earlier suggestion should hold true for both machines, to wit:

          "When playing the CD version under Windows Media Player, rightclick in the middle of the video image and select "Properties". Click on "Advanced". Select the DivX compressor. Move the "CPU" slider. Click on "Apply". Click on "OK". Return to the movie."
