TMPGEnc: RM video okay, but no audio

I can get TMPGEnc to open realvideo files no problem. It will also convert them to MPEG. But the resulting MPEG is silent, there's no audio.

Any ideas how I can get TMPGEnc to convert the audio too?

Have you tried manually setting the audio source in TMPGEnc to the file you're trying to convert?

If this doesn't work, the only option I would be aware of is to convert the sound into a format that TMPGEnc accepts (.wav) etc. You could try using virtualdub for this purpose, but I'm not sure that it supports realvideo files.

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest a program called TotalRecorder - it can record from any source your computer can play, but its not free software (relatively inexpensive as I recall though).

Once you have the sound portion converted, simply select the sound file in TMPGEnc as the sound source, an convert as you normally would.

The audio source is already set to the rm file. I've noticed on some clips that if I use audio edit and play the audio, then I'll hear it for about half a second, but then it goes silent.

There is actually an audio stream in the MPEG that TMPGEnc creates, but it's just that it's silent.

as setarip said, this is the way to go - I would use a freeware program called virtualdub to accomplish this - open the video in virtualdub, then choose save WAV from the file menu.

any one know how to convert rm vbr files to avi or aything else besides rm vbr files ?
and how u even open up the rm file with TMPGEnc ?
wat version are u using ?
cuz i cant open the file with that program.

To open rm files with TMPGEnc you need to have the realmedia splitter installed. And in TMPGEnc's environmental options you have to set the directshow multimedia reader in vfapi plugins to be the highest priority. But for me, it wouldn't convert the audio.

However, I found that real7ime converter works well at converting rm to avi. It even converts the audio!

I'd heard of this program before, but thought it was only for streaming realvideo, but it works with rm files saved on disk too.

ya , i used real7 converter as well, but for me ,after converting a 44 min video , it gave me error , virtual 6 run time error message.
the file u convert it , how long was it ?
and do u know a program that can split up 1 rm file into multi files ?
