    Showing Divx/Xvid with subtitles

    Hi

I'm sorry if this question has been asked but I couldn't find an answer anywhere.

I just got a new DVD player with divx and xvid support. I have a lot of movies that I used to watch on the PC and finally get to watch them on the big screen.

But I don't know how I can make my player display subtitles with the movies. I don't want to add the subs directly to the avi file because I want different language subtitles for the movies, so that I can select which ones to show.
I know selectable subtitles are possible with VCDs and DVDs so it should be possible with Divx also.

I guess, maybe I have to convert the subs to a format the DVD player understands but I don't know which one.

microdvd plays external subtitle files. get your subtitle files from http://divxstation.com/subtitles.asp and then read up on how to make microdvd play them (just google it, or search these forums). it's pretty simple, you just gotta make a .ini file containing all the relevant bits.

there are other methods, this is the one i use.
