Is it just the one file?
    Where did it come from?
Have you tried G Spot's 'file information'?

I personally have no experience of downloaded movies, a sub-forum on the subject has been closed so I think my only suggestion considering it says MPEG4 is to try ffdshow.
Again, I have no personal experience of this but it's a very popular viewer and tool. Good luck
