Importing VOB into Adobe Premiere Pro

Right. The subject says it all...

Is there ANY way to import .VOB files directly from DVD into Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5? I've been unable to find any way to do so.

I've tried converting the DVD to MPEG-1 using FlaskMPEG, X DVD Ripper and others, Flask crashes and X will only take the first 35 minutes, while skipping here and there. Is there a good convertor out there that takes no notice of Macrovision?

The DVD in question is "The Little Vampire". I'm hoping to get into a video-editing school, but to get in I need to send them something I edited. I was thinking of cutting this film up and re-edit it

But first I need to get it into Premiere. No doubt I can download the DivX or XviD somewhere, but I'd rather use the original DVD files (quality)...

I hope someone here can help me out.

    Thanks

    Never mind

I found it. Using DVD Decrypter I could get the title I wanted. Renaming those copies of the VOB files to MPG made them importable

Help me, empty minded, you're my only hope...

I had come here to ask the same question. I read your post and found/downloaded and used DVD Decrypter to copy the DVD to my hard drive. Now how do I get those file copies into Premiere Pro??

Set DVD Decrypter to IFO mode (use the "Mode" menu). Select the video and/or audio stream you want to import, and start decrypting.

This should result in AC3 and M2V files being created. Use an AC3 to WAV convertor to do just that (I use PX3's convertor, don't remember where I got it though).

If I'm not mistaken, Premiere Pro is already capable of importing M2V files. I tried several things before finding this solution, so I don't know. One of those things was installing the MainConcept MPEG Pro plugin, which is sure to add the ability to import MPG and M2V files.

I did have trouble with synchronization though. I don't know if it was the DVD Decryption or the APP import process, but the sound and video feed were the same duration, yet didn't run at the same speed...

        Good luck!
