    Simple Conversion?

I have been attempting to convert AVI's off of my hard drive to make into a DVD using Sony's Click 2 DVD. I can already hear the sighs!!! Anyway, the process seemed to work after some trial and error, but NO AUDIO when playback in DVD player. I researched and found that Click 2 DVD can only import AVI DV-Type 2 and that Movie Maker only saves AVI's as Type 1, but Canopus_DV_File_Converter.exe could create the file into Type 2. The problem is that at around 30% I get "Your destination AVI has not been written completely. Please verify results before deleting the source file". This can't be right? HELP

What type of audiostream is contained within the AVI file(s)? (Ac3; LPCM; Mp2; Mp3). To check, load one of the files into "VirtualDubMod" (a freeware program). Go to "File" > "File Information" and look at the information contained in the "Audio Track" section of the dialog box.

      File : 13.9 GB (1020 MB), duration: 1:04:57, type: AVI, 0 audio stream(s), quality: 88 %

I ran AVIcodec and as I see by the rsults there is 0 for audio stream. But how can I play it back in the Media player and have audio? Is this because I used Windows Movie Maker?

"I ran AVIcodec and as I see by the rsults there is 0 for audio stream."

I would be interested in seeing what VirtualDubMod says about the audiostream. Follow the procedure in my last post and post the results or attach a screen capture (.jpg) of the information.

Virtualdubmod stated that it detected AVI type 1 detected and that it could not extract. I've tried Type 2 converters from canopus and a progrtam called DV type 1 to type 2 converter. The first clip plays in click2dvd, then i geta lot of feedback audio.

Are you saying that VDM cannot even "Open" the file?

There is info on the video, so I'm assuming that it has opened the file

I decided to edit clips as separate files and then drag and drop onto the canopus program. Then I would import each separate file to Click to DVD, where I would hear audio in the click 2 DVD program, but when I attempt to create a DVD it states, " that Windows is unable to save all the data for the file and that the data has been lost...this error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. It worked Flawless (Menu and picture) before on a burnt DVD and played well on a stand alone. The ? is am I using the right sequence of events. I would like to create the compilation in WMM and then change to a DV-Type 2 file using a converter (I've used Canopus and a free file called DV Type I-II., but the file seems to be too large (it fit on a 4.7 gig DVD before w/out audio)and I get a message that my destination AVI has not been written completely. I even tried to use Sony's Movie Shaker import the files with negative resukts, usually the program would freeze up. What am I doing wrong. I have a Sony Vaio with plenty of hard drive, 200 gig and the 80 gig it came with, P4 2.4, 1024 memory. I know most are frowning that I'm using these programs, but there what I have to work with and I would like to use them, of course Sony is of NO Help at all. Please help
