    avi problem

I have a file that is a .avi file that says it uses a div3 codec, but when I play it on any of my players (the playa, windows media player, etc.) I get video but no audio. What is weird is that I have other file that are the same file type and use the same codec, and they play fine. Does anyone know what I can do?

In the file properties it does not say anything about any type of codec

"In the file properties it does not say anything about any type of codec"

That's not possible. From within Explorer, rightclick on the filename. Click on "Properties". Click on the "Details" tab.

Post the information that you see.

When I click on properties, there is no "details" tab--the only tab is "general"

"I have a file that is a .avi file that says it uses a div3 codec"

            How did you determine this?

If you have VirtualDub, load the file into VirtualDub and from under the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information".

            Post that information here.

If you have Windows Media Player v.6.4 available, run your video under Windows Media Player v.6.4. Rightclick in the middle of the video image. Select "Properties". Click on the "Advanced" tab.

Post all of the codecs/compressors/switchers listed (make sure to click the down arrow, if it's there, for additional items)
