I've got couple of mkv movies so I had to install matroska codec pack - didn't help, then I got The Core Media Player so I really enjoyed watching those movies. But now my ordinary AVI files are not playing back. No crash, nothing's wrong, just not playing. All files are playable in VirtualDubMod.
full of codecs, and not playing back

A good idea is to stay from codec packs. To many people have problems. Install a codec only when needed. You can try to reinstall divx and xvid to see if that helps. If not VLC (videolan) is an excellent and free player and plays most anything. -

Did you install any matroska packs before, and if so, what version ?Support the future of audio and video encoding, matroska as open standard container format and Gstreamer as open source, x-platform multimedia platform - Contact us on Corecodec, the concentric circles of audio and video, or on IRC.CORECODEC.COM #matroska ; for best viewing matroska file use The Core Media Player ( TCMP )Comment

yes, I tried to play on TCMP, WMP9, Divx, BSPlayer - nothing. Then I re-installed Divx player and now avi files are played only in Divx player. It was the first time I ever got matroska and it's a Matroska_Pack_Full_v1.0.3
And now TCMP plays only mkv and mpeg files. What I really want is one player to play them all!!Comment

Get Graphedit.exe from digital-digest.com, start it ( no installation necessary ) by double clicking on it, then goto 'file' 'render media' and try to open any AVI.
Tell us the error message if there is one, or post a screenshot of the graph here if there is one built.
Hopefully there is no problem with our ffdshow compile in the 1.0.3 pack :O ....Support the future of audio and video encoding, matroska as open standard container format and Gstreamer as open source, x-platform multimedia platform - Contact us on Corecodec, the concentric circles of audio and video, or on IRC.CORECODEC.COM #matroska ; for best viewing matroska file use The Core Media Player ( TCMP )Comment

The graph is looking fine. Can you play it in Graphedit if you click on the 'play' button ?Support the future of audio and video encoding, matroska as open standard container format and Gstreamer as open source, x-platform multimedia platform - Contact us on Corecodec, the concentric circles of audio and video, or on IRC.CORECODEC.COM #matroska ; for best viewing matroska file use The Core Media Player ( TCMP )Comment

Divx files can be played in Graphedit, but Xvid cannot. I guess there is something wrong with my xvid codec. Here is a new screenshot of this xvid file, which wouldn't play in Graphedit.Attached FilesComment

I assume you are using an old version of ffdshow. Can you please get the very latest version from http://sf.net/projects/ffdshow and try again ?Support the future of audio and video encoding, matroska as open standard container format and Gstreamer as open source, x-platform multimedia platform - Contact us on Corecodec, the concentric circles of audio and video, or on IRC.CORECODEC.COM #matroska ; for best viewing matroska file use The Core Media Player ( TCMP )Comment
