how to burn an xvid

hi there if someone can help me. i just bought a new dvd player that is xvid and dvix comatible. ive burned divx movies from my hard drive with no problems but when i want to burn an xvid it closes down due to error, im using the latest nero program

what am i doing wrong?
is there a plug-in for nero that allows me to burn xvid movies?

i do not have a dvd burner just a regular one

What is the extension of these XviD files?? are they named .avi or are they named .xvid. I'm just guessing here that if they are named .xvid then maybe nero is getting confused. I myself have had no problems in burning XviD movies with nero so....
