    Audio playback problems

Hi fellows i have a major problem !
after long time of searching i finaly downloaded a 700mb movie.
its an *.avi . the properties indicate that the
    audio format : MPEG Layer-3
    video copression: DIVXMPG4 V3

when playing in media player i can see only the picture, no sound and i can fast forward.

when playing in Vidomi i see the picture and hear the sound of the first 10 secs and then the player shuts down.

when playing in The Playa i can see both the picture and hear the sound but when fast forwarding The Playa generates and error and shuts down.

I really could use some help , thank you for you time , bye !

Do you have divx 3.11 alpha? If you also have the divx 4 codec installed, did you say "no" to its offering to play divx 3.11 content.

The rightclick only works with v.6.4 and earlier. Simply select "Properties" from the dropdown menus...

This could be due to the lack of computing power (if your cpu is below 1 Ghz and have low ram you could have a problem). In this case revert to a low cpu intensive players such as GDIVX or Yeahplayer, also reduce the color to 16 bit and the desktop area to the minimum 640x320 (i think that's the lowest).

IMy pc has a dvd player, has 128k ram 366 processor
and plays mpeg 2 fine. there has to be anaudio accelerator somewhere or some adjustments..can it be in vidomi when I convert mpeg 2 to mpeg 4 ?

Your system is quite old for playing DivX files actually. I have seen a Celeron300 choke on playing a 320x240 DivX4 video.

Try lowering the post-processing filters down to zero, and lower your desktop resolution and colour depth as well. 800x600 (or even 640x480) and 16-bit will be good.

Load a divx clip in WM 6.4 possibly 7. Click "properties" then "advanced", then select some derivative of "divx" sort of thing, it should be rather apparent. Click on the "properties" of that divx decompressor. Take cpu quality to 0. However, don't play avi's in WM 6.4, even on slow computers WM 6.4 can be resource heavy. Go for yeahplayer or gdivx. Of course, accordingly lower resolution to 640x480 and color to 16 bit. They are all important steps.
