I'm rather new to video compression and I've been having a problem with Xvid compressed AVIs. The audio is completely out of sync if I try to play the file in numerous media players (realplayer, WMP, xvid player 2.1), now if I open it in VirtualDub it comes up with the VBR error and rewrites the audio header to CBR. Upon doing this it corrects the audio sync problem. My question is: is this just the avi file and to correct it I would need to re-dub the file with CBR or is there some other explanation? I"ve searched several forums and often find the opposite scenario or a similar question to mine without an adequate answer.
