Trouble playing XVID file

I recently downloaded a video which is in XVID format. It causes strange problems. While watching it, at some frames the video stops for a second , get all distorted, and then there is some high pitch noise in my speaker, and then the video resumes but with almost no sound . When I click on the track bar the sound gets again alright, but again after few scenes the same thing happen.

PLZ help me, I am a newbie and dont know much what to do. I really want to enjoy that video.

well whatever..actually it was a family video from a ftp my brother had, who is away to other country. Anyway, I'll ask to send CD from him, sometimes, there is no help.

I just felt bad cause my connectoin is not too fast, but I still downloaded it from his ftp, and it took me lot of time for that. Anyway whatever, thanks for your respomse
