You are my last hope... please get in

    Hello
My problem is as follows: i have reinstalled winxp(Home Edition), i formatted my c partition and installed windows, afterwards i installed all updates(from microsoft) and all codecs(divx xvid even codecs packs, of course not together).
Since then every movie i play no matter what player, there is a gap between the audio and video. The movie files are just fine they don't have a sync problem. The problem is not with codecs because it doesn't play well mpeg file and DVD movies as well.
Furthermore, it seems to me that even in windows itself there is a problem, for example in error message i see the box and afterwards hear the beep.
Before the reinstallation there were no problems, i tried reinstalling again(it's the third time) and nothing.
I tried other soundcard and other video card but it didn't help.
Please help me. any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
I must admit i asked in other fourums but nothing helped.

    My specs
    P4 2.4Ghz HT
    Intel Motherboard D865PERL
    nvidia Geforce4 128 DDR
    Memory 512 DDR 400Mhz
    Onboard SoundMax soundcard

        - Take the windows menu-animations longer than before ???

        - Have you installed the latest drivers for ya GFX ???

        - Have you installed the latest version of DirectX ???

        - Shows dxdiag that DirectDraw is enabled ???

what program are you using to play the file? try downloading and installing "ffdshow"

are there any applications running in the backround? are YOU running any applications during playback? have you checked your computer for spyware/adware?

Find out what decoder (each for the video and audio) is used. If the same decoder is used in different movie files (with the problem persisting), try a different decoder. It is also possible that a certain program is automatically run when a movie file is being played and that is causing the problems (I won't name any suspects since you can find it out on your own computer). Update us with your findings.

                  Regards.

Thanks for replying, to all of you, my answer is maybe a bit late but i still keep tracking this thread, and i still need help.
Now for your suggestions, i don't see any suspicious programs that run on backround, i tried loading windows with the minimum services and it doesn't seem to be the problem.
I have tried using ffdshow but it didn't help, currently i use xvid divx and ac3filter.
I have tried replacing between the codecs(both audio and video) in different movies and there was no change.
I have noticed something on BSplayer on 'movie info', that the 'Average frame rate achieve' is always changes and also the 'Jitter'. There was also different in the audio between 'Bitrate(indicated)' which is constant to 'Bitrate(detected)' which varies all the time. Frankly i don't know whether it is a normal behavior or not but it seems suspicious to me.

                    Thanks for helping.
