    illegal video stream in tmpgenc

I hope I have posted in the correct location, I am new to the forums.

I managed to download a TS file from my dvr. Converted it to an mpeg-2 with HDTVtoMPEG2. Plays great on the elecard player and in all other players on my system.

I am now looking to use the merge cut to remove the commercials but TMPGEnc is giving me an illegal video stream error.

My goal is to use the MPEG2 to generate a DVD. I am really stuck.

Thanks in advance for the help.

If you haven't already done so, you might want to read the postings to this thread:

(as well as the "how to" link in the first post to that thread)

I have seen those instructions. They are helpful as a guide, but the final product that I want is not an .avi file. I am looking for instructions to create a vob and then play it on a dvd. Going from mpeg2 to avi and then back to an mpeg2 to place it on a dvd seems like a lot of encoding that will cause a lot of loss.

      Do I have other options??

      Thanks BR

Did you read the OTHER posts to that thread, such as:

"HDTVToMPEG2 seems to cut off the start of the video. I specifically used the clip from your guide (ESPN_HD.ts), and it looks like the first 120 frames are missing. BBDMUX does not appear to cut off the frames (that's how I counted the missing frames ). Have you noticed this as well?

Yep. Read it all. I will try the instructions again and see if I can get to where I want to be. I will repost if I run into trouble again (I am sure that I will). Thanks for your time setarip.
